Purpose

I intend to use this space to share my thoughts about the future and how innovations can improve life for humans and other living things. Making Earth a better place is also a key topic of interest. Just recently, on January 24, 2023, the Doomsday Clock was moved to 90 seconds to midnight, 10 seconds closer than it was in 2022.

The Doomsday Clock, displayed on the cover of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, 1 is a widely recognized visualization of the likelihood of a global catastrophe for human civilization. The image came to represent the imminence of nuclear annihilation in 1947 when the clock-face first appeared on the cover of the Bulletin(Vuori, 2010).

Therefore, it is even more important to consider and protect our planet. The advancements in IoT and the progress we are making in developing smaller, more powerful, and long-lasting devices will contribute to the mission of protecting nature and its inhabitants.

About me

This is Jacob here. I have been in the IT industry for over 16 years, and during that time, I have had the opportunity to work in countries such as the UK, Oman, China, and the USA, in addition to my home country of India.

I firmly believe in lifelong learning and have always sought to further my education. After completing my Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunications, I pursued an MBA in IT and Systems. As my job responsibilities grew, I realized the importance of staying current, so I continued to explore different options while working full-time. This search led me to CTU, where I am currently enrolled in a doctoral program. I am excited about every milestone I have reached, and the learning opportunities this program has provided me have been invaluable. I am grateful for the endless resources that CTU has made available to me, which have given me the confidence to continue my doctoral journey.

I began my IT career as a Quality Assurance Engineer, and for the past five years, I have been working with Amazon as a Sr. Technical Program Manager. I am also the author of the "Beginner's Guide for Mobile Applications Testing," which was published on Amazon in 2015. Additionally, I have written several whitepapers on Mobile Application Testing. Throughout my career, I have focused on mobile applications and am currently working on Amazon's Fire TV applications.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has always fascinated me, as one day, IoT devices will be the best tool for making life easier for humans.

About my Class

I am taking a course on Futuring and Innovation led by Dr. Cynthia Calongne (also known as Lyr Lobo). I am eager to delve deeper into this topic in the coming days, as innovation is what shapes a better future.

I am particularly excited about pursuing my research on "Security issues with recycling IoT devices." I look forward to engaging with all of you and having stimulating discussions.
